The narrative unfolds in a universe where Devils bring harm to humans, leading to their pursuit for elimination. The central character, Denji, is a despondent young man who, burdened by his late father's debt to loan sharks, including the yakuza, has sold several of his organs. He earns his living by working as a lumberjack and hunting devils.
